Heading into 2003-2004 recruiting season, the Cavaliers have already received a commitment from St. Anne’s Belfield
defensive lineman Chris Long . It’s a good start for Virginia’s recruitment of defensive linemen, a position which
looks like a need area. The Cavaliers would like to add more depth along the defensive line, including an athletic pass
rusher and a big nose tackle for the 3-4 defense. With the defensive backfield losing Almondo Curry and Jamaine Winborne
to graduation, cornerback will be another need area. Jermaine Hardy and Jay Dorsey will be seniors next season, meaning
the Cavaliers may add two more safety type prospects this year. And, of course, linebacker depth is always key in the
3-4.

On the offensive side of the ball, offensive line and wide receiver appear to be areas of emphasis. Kevin Bailey will
graduate next year, and Zach Yarborough, Mark Farrington, and Elton Brown will be seniors in 2004, meaning the addition
of several offensive line candidates (mainly tackles) will be emphasized, despite the influx of Jordy Lipsey , Ian-Yates
Cunningham, Eddie Pinigis, Marshall Ausberry, and Gordie Sammis in last year’s class. The Cavaliers lose Mike McGrew
and Ryan Sawyer to graduation this year, meaning Ottowa Anderson will be the only senior wideout on the squad for the
2004 season. While Marques Hagans, the four wide receiver prospects added last year, and the tandem of Ron Morton and
Kenneth Tynes are promising, adding a few more talented prospects will help. Assuming the Cavaliers give 19-20
