UVa Recruiting War Room #10: Offense

The past few days haven’t brought encouraging news for UVA fans, however recruiting is, many times, a rollercoaster
ride. A flurry of bad news can often be followed by a flurry of good news, so all is not lost. The Cavaliers remain
involved with many highly rated targets for many key positions, including wide receiver. Out of the remaining
scholarships, UVA would like to land at least two of their receiver targets. If Virginia could land a Dwayne Jarrett ,
however, then the recruiting year for wide receivers would have to be considered a success.

One of the top receiver targets, and one of the top targets in the state of Virginia for that matter, is expected on
campus this weekend, when Westfield’s Eddie Royal will make his official visit. Kevin Bradley , who is being recruited
by UVA as an outside linebacker/fullback prospect, is expected on campus as well. Eleanor Roosevelt High School (MD)
safety prospect Thierrien “Bud” Davis is now scheduled to visit as well, making for at least three prospects
on campus this weekend. Only Bradley has not received a scholarship offer.

Virginia has landed four top players on offense thus far, including QB Scott Deke , TE Tom Santi , and in-state
prospects OL Zak Stair and RB/DB Cedric Peerman . Landing at least one top wide receiver target is major for this year’s
class, offense-wise. Landing the remaining running back targets (including former commit Andrew Pearman ) would give the
class a huge boost as well. Running back is not a big need, but getting a player the caliber of Andre Brown would be a
huge, as would adding the pure speed of Pearman to the offense. Brown will announce on January 21st while
Pearman will make four official visits, starting with Army this weekend.

Virginia appears to be finished at the tight end position, and appears to be targeting a few prospects for the final
offensive line scholarship. Phil Trautwein is the likeliest candidate to accept the final scholarship for the OL,
however the Cavaliers will have to beat out Florida and Michigan State.
