With 15 verbal commitments for the 2004 class, UVA is hoping to cap off the year with top commitments on offense and
defense. The Cavaliers are right there at the top for a number of top targets on defense, so it’s just a matter of
closing the deal with these players. Those that Virginia has a good chance of landing include in-state prospects Jerod
Mayo, Olu Hall , and Clint Sintim . I think UVA will land Mayo but it will be very close. Olu Hall is a tough to read, but
I think he ends up staying in-state. Until the Cavaliers can land a player from Robinson High School, the "Robinson
factor" will always be there. But right now, it appears the Cavaliers have at least a solid chance at landing the
state’s top prospect. Clint Sintim ’s father likes UVA over Virginia Tech right now, and I think that will help UVA
land the Gar-Field star. Coach Groh and Golden have done an excellent job making him feel like a top priority as well,
which is another key.

Out of state, UVA also has a good chance with Dwayne Hendricks and Nate Lyles . Hendricks visits Miami this weekend,
and they are always scary, and Iowa is still very much a factor. But UVA has Mike London, who has developed a great
relationship with Dwayne. Lyles will likely choose between UVA and Notre Dame, with proximity to home possibly being the
deciding factor. If location is not a factor, then UVA has a great chance here. The Cavaliers are also involved with
Tristan Davis , although it will be tough to land him from the SEC schools Auburn and Mississippi State. UVA is right
there at the top, however.

UVA has not been able to land a few top targets recently, but remain involved with a lot of excellent prospects. They
are right there in many cases, however it is tough, considering the teams they are going head-to-head with nationally
(for the out-of-state prospects). Currently, UVA has at least a solid class with some great prospects including Philip
Brown and Chris Long . Depending on how many more prospects they can land out of the remaining targets, the class could
end up being rated anywhere from Top 25 nationally to Top 40 nationally (if they were to land no one).
