Every once in a while, college coaches will recruit a player with no idea what position the individual may end up
playing. For these types of players it does not usually matter, as natural ability assures them a spot on the field.

Jamaal Jackson is that type of player. In fact, Jackson was recruited and is listed by almost all recruiting services
as merely an "athlete." But being cast with the label of being an "athlete" does not seem to bother
the Virginia commitment.

"It is pretty neat that you could be recruited not even playing a position and not even having a definite
position. It is special for me to be recruited on just my athletic ability," said Jackson, who was the 10th verbal
commitment in the 2004 class when he made his decision in October.

While Jackson does not seem to care if he plays offense or defense, he earned a majority of his awards as a senior at
defensive back for Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake.
