2006 Class: Robertson Excels at OG/DT

Liberty High School (Bedford, VA) defensive tackle Daryl Robertson has experience playing several positions for head coach Chris Watt s. As a sophomore, he started at nose guard and, this season, moved to defensive tackle and even played on the offensive line. Both moves turned out to be very good ones.

“He started for us last year at nose guard as a sophomore on defense, and then this year he played defensive tackle,” Watts said. “Daryl earned all-district on both sides of the ball. He was second-team all-region. He was on the Lynchburg News and Advance all-area team. The Roanoke Times had an all-Timesland team and he was on that too.”

Robertson has worked hard over the past few years to become the player he is now. He has been playing varsity football since his freshman year.

“He’s 6-3, 285,” Watts said of Robertson. “He weighed about the same both years, but this year he looks more like a football player as opposed to just looking like a big kid. He works real hard in the weight room. His bench right now is about 320. His squat is about 405. His clean is right around 280. So his size and the fact that Tech has already offered him has given him a lot of publicity right off the bat.”
