Q&A with John-Kevin Dolce

St. Anthony’s (Long Island, N.Y.) star defensive end John-Kevin Dolce was one of the three players to commit to Virginia on Saturday. We caught up with the 6-2, 220-pound prospect to discuss his decision, what he thinks of being recruited to play outside linebacker in Al Groh’s 3-4 defense and a few other things.

Al Golden is the primary recruiter for Dolce, who made 57 tackles including 10 tackles-for-loss and four sacks last season as a junior. Dolce runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.7 range and is very strong, as he benched 185 pounds 25 times at the Nike Camp at Penn State earlier this year. He chose Virginia over offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota and Rutgers. He also had interest from Maryland, Pitt and Syracuse, among others.

Academically, Dolce is a 3.0 student and recently took the SAT for the first time.
