2006 Recruiting War Room #3: The Home Stretch

It’s less than seven weeks until national Signing Day on February 1, 2006, and recruiting is starting to roll into high gear for the Virginia Cavaliers. UVa enjoyed a burst of momentum on the weekend of December 2nd, receiving verbal commitments from four prospects. The timing of those commitments couldn’t have been better, as it was around that time that Ron Prince, Al Golden and Danny Rocco were accepting or close to accepting head coaching positions. Since then, there has been bad and good news. Conestoga (Wayne, PA) linebacker Mark Herzlich recently de-committed from Virginia and committed to Boston College, but Indian River cornerback DeAndre Filer pledged to Coach Groh last Friday. Filer’s commitment gives Virginia a total of 21 commitments heading into the home stretch.
