Slamfest 2006 Begins Tonight!

Tonight marks the beginning of Slamfest 2006. Many talented teams and, of course, top players will be on hand in Richmond, Virginia, this weekend. Tournament organizer Thomas Leachman expects many college coaches, including UVa’s own Dave Leitao, to be on hand for some of the weekend’s game.

Teams scheduled to participate include national power St. Benedict’s Prep as well as top state of Virginia squads such as Bethel, Blue Ridge, Collegiate, Hargrave Military Academy and Meadowbrook. Landstown, which features top football prospects Percy Harvin and Damon McDaniel , is scheduled to play as well.

A few targets Virginia is showing interest in include Meadowbrook 6-4, 190-pound guard Devin Johnson (2006 recruit), Highland Springs 6-6, 180-pound small forward Jamar Abrams (2007), Hanover 6-8 forward/center Ed Davis (2008), American Christian 6-4, 185-pound guard Tyreke Evans and St. Benedict’s 6-9, 210-pound PF Samardo Samuels (2008) and 6-5, 220-pound SG Corey Stokes (2007), among others.

Ticket Information…

Tickets for the Friday Night Double Header at the Siegel Center are on sale at the Siegel Center Box Office (804.828.RAMS). Reserved Seating is available and tons of great seats are still available for $9. A limited number of Courtside seats are available for $15.

Saturday’s Slamfest tickets can be purchased at Benedictine High School the day of the event. Tickets are $10 for the five game session.
