Talent Continues to Flow at Highland Springs

Highland Springs, which went on a roll in the second half of the regular season to capture the Capital district title, returns a large group of talent for the 2006 football season. And, the Springers roll of producing Division 1A talent will continue into the 2007 class as head coach Scott Burton has two prospects who have already received 1A scholarship offers.

“For sure we’ve got two 1A kids,” Burton said. “They’ve already got several offers already. And there’s probably another five or six kids who could play on some level next year. It just depends on how they finish academically and how they progress football-wise to determine how they will play. But, there are definitely a lot of kids who should continue their careers beyond high school.”

The two 1A kids Burton mentions include Richmond Times-Dispatch first-team all-metro cornerback C.J. Fleming and wide receiver/defensive back Cris Hill . Both players are about the same size at 5-11 ½, 175 pounds, and both can really run according to their coach.

Cris Hill played slot receiver, cornerback and returned kick-offs for the Springers last season.
