Darius Ashley , rising senior tailback out of St. Xavier (Cincinnati, OH), has received double digit Division 1A scholarship offers. The University of Virginia was the first offer for Ashley, who continues to be recruited heavily by the Cavaliers coaching staff. The persistence has not gone unnoticed, as UVa is one of the top three schools on Ashley’s list according to St. Xavier head coach Steve Specht.

“Darius has done a nice job of narrowing it down,” Specht said. “I think he is down to about nine schools, but I know Illinois, Louisville and Virginia are at the top of his list. He has offers from a lot of different places. Virginia was the very first school to offer him. UL is close to home. He took a visit down there and really enjoyed it.”

Virginia is being led by primary recruiter Wayne Lineburg, but it was a former assistant coach with ties to the Cincinnati area who first began recruiting the talented back.
