Chalk up another in-state commitment for the Cavaliers. Fauquier (Warrenton, VA) linebacker Connor McCartin is the latest prospect from the Commonwealth to commit to the University of Virginia, bringing UVa’s 2009 class in-state commitment total to 10. Overall, the Cavs now have 12 verbal commitments in the 2009 class.

“He visited Virginia on Friday and they offered him on Friday,” former Fauquier County head coach Greg Hatfield said. “He was very excited about it. They rolled out the red carpet for him and he left very excited. He came home to think about it. He was going to go to visit Kansas and Boston College, but he decided to go ahead and cancel those trips and commit to Virginia.”

McCartin, who plays inside linebacker and running back for Fauquier, is being recruited by Virginia to play linebacker. He racked up 135 tackles last season as a junior, earning first-team all-Cedar Run district honors for his performance.
