Revisiting the 2009 Class Needs: Offense

UVa has enjoyed tremendous success in this 2009 class, landing 18 commitments to date, and the staff is now in the enviable position of being selective with its few remaining scholarships. A Division 1A program may enroll 25 players in a given class, but for now the expected number of recruits in this class is about 23. For the right kids, though, I could see that number expanding.

While the staff has done an excellent job of addressing need areas, some positions still need to be addressed further. The offensive line is one position that comes to mind.

In the initial “2009 Needs: Offense” analysis, I projected Virginia to try and land two quarterbacks, two to three running backs, three wide receivers, one tight end and four to five offensive linemen. Broken down by position, here are my latest projections for this class…
