With college football seasons coming to an end, high school juniors can expect recruiting to pick up. This has been true for Menchville (Newport News) athlete Clifton Richardson and Dinwiddie defensive lineman Corey Marshall , who are considered two of the top juniors in the state of Virginia.

Richardson, a 6-1, 195-pound prospect, is creeping closer to double-digit offers. He has seven and expects another by the end of the week.

“I have seven offers,” Richardson said. “I have Maryland, Tennessee, South Carolina, [Virginia] Tech, UVa, ECU and West Virginia. Right now, it is at seven. But Miami said an offer is coming this week.”

Duke, Georgia, LSU and Wake Forest are also expressing interest in the versatile Richardson, who saw action at running back, quarterback, free safety and linebacker this past season. He rushed for about 1,300 yards on offense and was a force on special teams as well, returning two kicks for scores. Most schools are recruiting Richardson as an athlete with potential on either side of the ball.
