Having one or two of its 2011 class commitments enroll early (January 2011) would allow Mike London and staff flexibility in terms of the overall amount of players they can take in the class. H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.) senior Darius Redman , who committed to the Cavaliers in June, is hopeful of being one of those prospects.

“I’m waiting for my last ACT score. I found out I’d need a higher score on the ACT or SAT to go in January,” said Redman, who claims his GPA is where UVa wants it to be. “I’ve also signed up for the SAT in December to try again if I don’t make it.”

Redman has had his sights set on early enrollment for quite a while, but he will follow through with his commitment regardless of what happens.

“If I can’t get the scores, that doesn’t affect anything,” Redman said. “I’d just go in the summer and work harder to get playing time as a true freshman.”
