UVa Strikes Again At Good Counsel

While in Charlottesville on a visit, Good Counsel (Olney, MD) junior wide receiver Andre Levrone verbally committed today to the University of Virginia. In Levrone, UVa gains its third commitment overall in the class of 2013. Two of the three hail from Good Counsel, which boasts a nationally recognized Falcons football program.

The 6’1″, 190-pound prospect tweeted his big news just after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

“I’m orange and blue through and through..hell yea that means I’m a Hoo..Go Cavs!!!!! #UVA,” Levrone wrote on Twitter.

He also confirmed his decision to TheSabre via text message.

“Yes sir that is true..I’m a Hoo,” he said.

Levrone could play receiver or defensive back in college, but the thinking right now is that he’ll line up on offense. All three of UVa’s 2013 class commits project to play on offense (Good Counsel quarterback Brendan Marshall and Salisbury School (Salisbury, CT) offensive lineman Sadiq Olanrewaju committed prior to today).

“I would say he is more in the Tim Smith mode if I had to compare him to somebody,” VirginiaPreps.com Editor Zirkle Blakey said of the 6’1″, 185-pound Levrone. Blakey watched the Falcons standout at this past Saturday’s VTO Combine in Richmond. “I don’t think he’s a 4.2 guy, but he has good speed. He ran good routes.”

Levrone also considered offers from Auburn and Mississippi State. Boston College and Ohio State are among the schools that had expressed serious interest. He visited both Auburn and Virginia before today’s decision.

Virginia is two for two at Good Counsel in 2013, and no doubt the staff hopes the success continues. In addition to Levrone and Marshall, head coach Mike London has also offered cornerback Kendall Fuller , defensive back Calvin Jones, linebacker Reggie McGee (according to Rivals) linebacker Marcel Ngachie and linebacker Dorian O’Daniel from the school.

Good Counsel went undefeated in 2011, capturing a third straight WCAC championship in the process. The Falcons finished the year ranked no. 5 nationally in the ESPN Fab 50.
