Rising Junior Tackle Scores Sixth Offer

Torn shirt and all, Austin Clark walked off of Virginia Tech’s practice field this past Saturday feeling good about his performance at the Hokies’ one-day camp. The 6’6″, 285-pound rising junior, a product of Rockbridge County High School in Lexington, Virginia, was rewarded two days later with a scholarship offer from head coach Frank Beamer.

“I’m excited. I do like Virginia Tech a lot,” Clark answered when asked for his reaction to the Tech offer. “I actually went to their Spring Game, so I got to see the locker room and all the facilities. I could definitely see myself going there.”

It has been a busy but rewarding past two months for Clark, who has participated in five college camps in that span.

“The first camp I went to was Duke. That was June 2,” Clark said. “That was a real good camp. I learned a lot. I learn a lot at all the camps I go to. And then I went to Ohio State next. That camp was really competitive. There were a lot of guys there. It was real good competition. Then I went to Tennessee and I got a lot of instruction there. I was happy with that and the coaches. And then I went to Penn State and I met Coach Mac (Mac McWhorter). He’s a real good coach, too.”
