Brown, a senior, plays for Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, VA), which takes on Centreville (Clifton, VA) in the 6A state title game. This contest will be held at UVa’s Scott Stadium with kickoff expected to be 4:07 p.m.

A starter on both sides of the line at Oscar Smith, the 6’4″, 295-pound Brown will play on the defensive line – likely defensive tackle – for the Cavaliers. The highly touted prospect was just named the 2013/2014 Gatorade National Player of the Year, the first UVa recruit to earn this honor since Terry Kirby.

Oscar Smith defeated a tough Colonial Forge squad, 17-0, last Saturday to get to this point. Brown and the rest of the Tigers defense held the Eagles to just 55 total yards and five first downs.

Thornhill, a junior, leads Altavista (VA) against Essex in the 1A state championship that will be held at Salem High School (Salem, VA) on Saturday at noon. The 6’1″, 170-pound prospect starts at quarterback and free safety for the Colonels, winners of 13 games so far this season. He had a 3-touchdown performance in last week’s 34-22 win over Haysi.

Class of 2014 linebacker recruit Caanan Brown was in action last week as well, but Clearwater Central Catholic (Clearwater, FL) fell to Trinity Christian, 34-7, in the Class 3A state championship. The Marauders finish the 2013 season with an 11-3 overall record.
