Cavs Hosting Three On Official Visits

Denbigh (Newport News, VA) outside linebacker/defensive end Christopher Peace, Jesuit (Tampa, FL) linebacker Vincent Jackson Jr., and Archbishop Carroll (Washington, D.C.) outside linebacker/defensive end Cory Jones are on official visits at the University of Virginia this weekend.

As reported in our “Sabre Scoop” feature earlier this week, Peace enters the weekend without a scholarship offer from the Hoos. The 6’3”, 225-pound senior is hoping to land one he leaves Grounds on Sunday. If an offer does come, though, Peace does not plan on committing right away.

“I’m going to take a visit the last weekend (before Signing Day),” said Peace.

Albany, Hampton, Norfolk State and The Citadel have offered Peace, who has drawn serious interest from Virginia, Connecticut, East Carolina and Old Dominion. This weekend’s trip to Charlottesville will be the first for the Newport News standout, who racked up 17 sacks as a senior despite primarily being an offensive player before the 2013 season.

Peace is tentatively scheduled to take an official visit to Albany next week. That destination could change, though, depending on what other offers he receives.

Jackson, an ESPN.com 4-star recruit, arrived in Charlottesville on Friday night for the beginning of his official visit to UVa. He landed an offer from the Cavaliers in December.

“Hello Charlottesville, Virginia,” Jackson tweeted on Friday night.

The 6’3”, 240-pound senior made an official visit to South Florida last weekend and reportedly is scheduled to travel to Missouri next weekend.

As a junior, Jackson totaled 70 tackles with 26 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. As a senior he helped Jesuit to an 8-4 overall record. One of the losses was to Clearwater Central Catholic, which features Virginia linebacker recruit Caanan Brown.

As for Jones, a 6’3”, 220-pound prospect who racked up 26 sacks his senior season, CavsCorner.com tweeted Friday night that he was expected to be on Grounds for an official. Virginia offered the Archbishop Carroll standout following his outstanding senior season, but in December he committed to Toledo. He appears to have decided to give Virginia a closer look.
