Cavs Offer In-State DL

Virginia has extended a scholarship offer to 6’5″, 260-pound defensive lineman Channing Hames, a junior out of Bishop O’Connell (Arlington, VA).

“Add @UVa_Football to JR DE, Channing Hames, list of offers,” O’Connell head coach Les Smith tweeted earlier today.

Hames, whose junior season highlights you can watch by clicking here, also scored offers from Boston College, Old Dominion and West Virginia on the day. These four schools are the first scholarship offers he has received.

Also according to Coach Smith, Hames will be in attendance for UVa’s Junior Day this Saturday, March 1. Stay tuned for more on the O’Connell standout before and after this weekend’s visit.

More Offer News

– Per Twitter, UVa extended an offer to Helias (Jefferson City, MO) class of 2015 tight end Hale Hentges. To say the competition is stiff would be an understatement, as Hentges has also been offered by Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas and others.

Tight end is a big position of need for Virginia in this class. As the current roster projection stands, only three scholarship tight ends will be on the roster in the 2015 season.

– Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) quarterback Nick Johns and Highland Springs (VA) wide receiver Felton Davis III, both class of 2015 prospects, scored new offers. Johns picked up N.C. State to go along with previous offers from UVa and Maryland, while Davis added Marshall to go along with ODU, UVa and Virginia Tech.
