Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, VA) has compiled a 37-3 record so far in 2013/2014. The Warriors still have some basketball left, though, as they are one of eight teams set to play in the 2014 Dick’s Sporting Goods High School National Tournament, which will be held in New York City April 3-5 and will be televised by the ESPN family of networks. For B.J. Stith, this will be the final three games of his high school career before he moves on to the University of Virginia.

Stith, a 6’5”, 200-pound two-guard/small forward, attended Brunswick High School (Lawrenceville, VA) for three years before transferring to Oak Hill for his senior year. He went from being a starter at Brunswick, where in three years he helped the Bulldogs to three state titles, to being a top reserve for head coach Steve Smith. The new role was an adjustment, but Stith remains pleased with his decision to transfer to the prep power.

“Man, playing at Oak Hill has been very valuable for me,” Stith said. “It helped me understand the game at different aspects and angles I wasn’t thinking about when I was at Brunswick. At Brunswick, the game was probably a lot easier and the competition wasn’t as stiff. [Oak Hill] opened my eyes. It showed me what I needed to work on.”

Stith believes he is a more versatile player now than when he first arrived at Oak Hill last summer.
