Strategy Session: OL A Major Offensive Focus

Class of 2015 recruiting is well under way. The Virginia football coaches continue to evaluate players and extend new offers, but as of this writing the staff has extended scholarship offers to 158 rising seniors, a number compiled from what we have confirmed directly plus those offers reported by 247Sports.com and Rivals.com.

Mississippi offensive lineman Ryan Gibson and South Carolina dual-threat quarterback Kelly Bryant are two of most recent rising seniors offered by Virginia. The Gibson offer ups the number of class of 2015 offensive line prospects offered by the Cavaliers to 36, while Bryant is the seventh quarterback prospect offered by the Hoos. The rest of the scholarship offer breakdown on offense is as follows…

– Wide Receivers: 18
– Running Backs: 10
– Tight Ends: 9

Only 12 scholarship offensive linemen are projected to be on the 2015 season roster as of right now, though this number doesn’t include walk-on center Jackson Matteo, who could well go on scholarship if he builds on last season’s performance.
