Proctor Chooses Hoos

UVa’s commitment hot streak continued today, when Liberty (Bealeton, VA) class of 2015 offensive lineman RJ Proctor pledged to the Cavaliers. The 6’4″, 320-pound prospect gives Virginia its third offensive line recruit in this class, a key note because the offensive line is one of the bigger needs for the Cavaliers in this class. Proctor joins Florida native Grant Polk, who committed to UVa last Sunday, and Pennsylvania native Ryan Bischoff, who pledged to the Hoos on April 10 of this year.

The Cavaliers now boast seven commitments in total in the class of 2015. Four of those commitments have come on board in the past 15 days. In that time the Hoos have scored two class of 2016 commits as well, so certainly head coach Mike London and company are enjoying quite a bit of recent success on the recruiting trail.

Liberty head coach Sean Finnerty provided the Proctor news to TheSabre initially via text message this afternoon, writing: “RJ committed to UVa today.”

Proctor also tweeted his decision.

Proctor claimed four offers — UVa, Old Dominion, James Madison and VMI — at the time of today’s commitment. Maryland and Virginia Tech were among the schools expressing serious interest.

UVa’s annual Big Man Camp for offensive and defensive linemen is tomorrow, and with that in mind Proctor admitted that he was contemplating a commitment to the Hoos. Coach London offered Proctor in late May. In turn, the Eagles standout followed up with a visit to Charlottesville last Saturday.

“My coach thinks Maryland is close to offering. Virginia Tech may offer. I still could have a whole bunch of offers, but there is kind of time on UVa’s because they only have two (offensive line) spots left in this class and the Big Man Camp is this weekend,” Proctor said in this EDGE article posted yesterday.

“I think [a decision could come] pretty soon. I’m still discussing it with my parents.”

Indeed, the decision was made and Proctor is now a Cavalier. In the article mentioned above, Proctor called his future school “amazing. There is a whole bunch of history to it.”

On the football side of UVa, Proctor said: “Coach Wach and I have a relationship. He is really cool and he’s a really good offensive line coach. Coach London is also a good coach.”

Attempts to reach Proctor have been unsuccessful so far, but stay tuned for more from him on his decision in the coming days.
