Peach State Safety Chooses Hoos

6’1″, 195-pound David Curry, a safety/wide receiver prospect out of Buford High School (GA), announced via Twitter this evening that he has committed to the University of Virginia.

UVa now has 10 verbal commitments in the class of 2015. Two of those prospects — Curry and Altavista (VA) product Juan Thornhill — are being recruited to play safety. The class also consists of one quarterback, one wide receiver, one tight end, three offensive linemen, one defensive tackle and one cornerback.

Curry has terrific football bloodlines as his father is former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Buddy Curry. The elder Curry played collegiately at UNC before moving on to the NFL, where he was 1980 Defensive Rookie of the Year and earned all-Pro honors twice.

One of the top high school football programs in Georgia, Buford captured the Class AAA state title in 2012 and 2013 and consistently produces major FBS prospects. Virginia has one Buford product on the roster already in sophomore cornerback CJ Moore.
