The University of Virginia football program held its final one-day camp of 2014 today. The turnout was good although the camp had to be moved inside the George Welsh Practice Facility due to weather. Here is a rundown of some of the storylines from the camp with individual reports to come later in the week…
DEBERRY VISITS
4-star defensive end/outside linebacker Ricky DeBerry Jr., one of the top remaining uncommitted recruits in the class of 2015, was on Grounds Wednesday. The 6’3”, 245-pound prospect did not participate in the camp but did take the opportunity to visit with coaches and players while watching a St. Christopher’s (Richmond, VA) teammate in action.
I caught up with DeBerry for an interview after the camp. He said he plans to narrow his list to eight schools in early August, probably following an unofficial visit to Texas A&M. The Cavaliers, he said, will be one of the finalists. Virginia Tech is another definite finalist.
