St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia, PA) tailback Olamide Zaccheaus has verbally committed to the University of Virginia, TheSabre.com has confirmed. Zaccheaus, a 5’8″, 185-pound prospect, is Virginia’s first tailback commitment in the class of 2015.

Cincinnati, Miami, Pittsburgh and Temple reportedly offered as well, but a visit to Charlottesville this past weekend apparently tipped the scales in favor of the Wahoos.

St. Joseph’s Prep went 12-3 in the 2013 season, capturing the PIAA Class AAAA state championship in the process. Zaccheaus and class of 2017 running back D’Andre Swift combined to rush for over 1,500 yards for the Hawks. Zaccheaus, a first-team all-Catholic League selection in 2013, was featured in the passing game as well. In last year’s playoffs he had three receptions for 37 yards in the state title win over Central Catholic, a 37-yard reception in the state semifinals against Neshaminy, and a 48-yard touchdown reception in a 21-10 state quarterfinal win over Parkland.

The Hoos now have 13 commitments in total in this class. As mentioned, Zaccheaus is the first tailback recruit. On offense, Virginia also has one quarterback commit, one wide receiver, two possible tight ends (though Tanner Cowley could play linebacker) and three offensive linemen.
