Ballhawk Weekly With Ahmad Hawkins, Episode 2

TheSabre.com is pleased to announce a new Sabre TV exclusive web show with Virginia football legend Ahmad Hawkins. “Ballhawk Weekly” features former UVa and AFL star Ahmad Hawkins as an analyst for Virginia football. Hosted by UVa student Shannon Power, the show will break down the Hoos each week directly for you, TheSabre.com Virginia fanatic!

Hawkins played both defensive back and receiver at UVa, leading the team in interceptions as a senior with four. He also found himself on the receiving end of one of the program’s most famous plays, the game-winning touchdown reception at Virginia Tech in 1998. The Hoos rallied for remarkable 36-32 comeback victory over the rival Hokies after trailing 29-7 at the half. Hawkins pulled in a pass from Aaron Brooks and sprinted 47 yards to the end zone to cap the biggest comeback in school history.

After his playing days at Virginia, Hawkins went on to star in the Arena Football League where he posted more than 40 interceptions in his career. He earned Defensive Player of the Game honors at Arena Bowl XIX as the Colorado Crush defeated the Georgia Force, 51-48, to win the title. Hawkins had an interception in that contest.

The Sabre TV show is hosted by Shannon Power, a third-year student at the University of Virginia. Power is a sports reporter for WUVA, the student radio station at UVa since 1947 when it was run out of the basement of Lefevre Dorm, and a member of the Hoo Crew, which won the Naismith Student Section of the Year Award in March.
