CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Five Virginia players average more than 20 minutes per game. Point guard London Perrantes is the leader in that category at 33.1 minutes per game, but he trails the other four teammates in the scoring column.

All season long when his team has needed a big bucket, however, Perrantes often has been there to deliver. That was the case again Friday when the Hoos dispatched Belmont 79-67 in the NCAA Tournament’s second round.

“His pull-up at the elbow when we were only up two was huge,” UVa’s Justin Anderson said. “It gave us a chance. He’s good. He’s been playing really well. … He still has the ultimate confidence and he’s doing a great job helping us and leading us.”

Perrantes finished with 9 points and 3 assists after going scoreless with 1 assist in the first half. Almost all of his statistics came at huge moments in the second half as the Bruins tried to mount an upset attempt.
