Quick Take With UVa Incoming Freshman QB Nick Johns

The departure of Greyson Lambert, who announced last week that he is transferring from the University of Virginia, leaves the UVa football program with only two scholarship quarterbacks currently on the roster: Matt Johns, a rising junior who was named the starter this spring, and rising red-shirt freshman Corwin Cutler, who has decided to return to the program after announcing his own plans to transfer earlier this month.

A third scholarship quarterback, Nick Johns, enrolls on Grounds on June 8. (Click here for Johns’ profile card on VirginiaSports.com.) The 6’4″, 215-pound signal caller graduates from Gonzaga College (Washington, D.C.) on May 31. He verbally committed to Virginia in May of 2014 and signed a letter of intent with the Hoos this past February. As a senior at Gonzaga, Johns, a consensus 3-star recruit, threw for 1,366 yards and 12 touchdowns while completing 66-percent of his passes.

Johns took some time for a “Quick Take” to discuss the beginning of his college career, UVa’s quarterback situation, and more.
