Broad Run DB Chris Moore Commits To UVa

Rising senior defensive back Chris Moore impressed this past Saturday during UVa’s annual 7-on-7 tournament, so much so that head coach Mike London decided to offer the 6’2″, 185-pound prospect a scholarship. The Broad Run (Ashburn, VA) standout has decided to accept the offer, verbally committing to the staff late Wednesday night.

Air Force, Army and Navy were among the other scholarship offers Moore considered before pledging to the Hoos.

“UVA has been one of my dream schools for awhile and I really believe in Coach London,” Moore answered when asked why he committed to Virginia.

Moore says that Coach London and company were “recruiting me pretty hard” prior to the camp. What sold the staff to come through last Saturday?

“They loved my versatility to play both safety and corner,” said Moore, who has seen action at both positions in his high school career. Because of his size, he believes he likely will ultimately play safety in college.

Moore, a second-team all-Conference 14 selection as a junior, becomes the 12th member of Virginia football’s 2016 Class. He is the second prospect to commit this week, joining fellow defensive back Darrius Bratton of William Fleming High School (Roanoke, VA). Seven of UVa’s 12 commitments hail from the Commonwealth.

Moore, who hopes to major in Business, believes attending Broad Run has prepared him for the next level on and off the field.

“Broad Run has put me in a good position to succeed,” said Moore, who helped the Spartans to a 9-4 record last season. “I have a lot of people in my corner that want me to go far and that are constantly pushing me.”
