Liberty Christian Academy (Lynchburg, VA) standout Matt Terrell celebrated Independence Day by making his college choice.

Terrell, an outside linebacker/defensive end prospect, received a scholarship offer from head coach Mike London following an impressive performance at UVa’s one-day camp on June 20. Richmond, Liberty and Elon also offered the 6’4″, 225-pound prospect, who becomes the 18th rising high school senior to pledge to Virginia in the class of 2016.
Playing stand-up rush end on some plays and a hand-on-the-ground defensive end on others, Terrell led the Eagles in tackles last season as a junior. He earned VISAA Division I second-team all-state honors for his performance.
Virginia likely sees Terrell, a player with 4.52-second speed in the 40, playing the hybrid linebacker/defensive end role in Jon Tenuta’s defense.
