Local PK Prospect Holland Corbett Commits To Virginia

The summer before his senior year at Western Albemarle High School (Charlottesville, VA), Holland Corbett accepted a recruited walk-on spot at the University of Virginia. Instead of enrolling at UVa this summer, the 6’1″, 160-pound place-kicker prospect headed to Fork Union Military Academy (VA) for postgraduate work. The decision proved to be a good one, as Corbett received and now has accepted a full scholarship offer from Cavalier head coach Mike London.

Corbett pledged to the Hoos earlier today, TheSabre.com has confirmed.

Corbett made 4-of-6 field goals and had 44 touchbacks as a junior at Western Albemarle. He earned Virginia Preps 3A all-state and VHSL Group 3A first-team all-state honors his senior year, when he helped Western Albemarle reach the 3A state semifinals. Corbett made seven field goals his senior season.

Virginia football now has 23 verbal commitments in the class of 2016. UVa currently has two scholarship place-kickers on its roster in Ian Frye and Dylan Sims, but Frye is a senior and Sims, a junior, has only handled kick-off duties in his Cavalier career. There certainly is an opportunity for Corbett to come in and start as a true freshman.
