Linebacker Kenneth Ruff Commits To Virginia

Virginia football’s loss to Boise State did not keep Dillard (Fort Lauderdale, FL) senior linebacker Kenneth Ruff from verbally committing to head coach Mike London, which is exactly what he did on Saturday (September 26).

Ruff, who took an official visit to UVa this weekend, becomes the 25th prospect to commit to the Cavaliers’ class of 2016. TheSabre.com caught up with the Sunshine State standout earlier in the week, prior to his official visit.

“UVa is a great school academically and has a pretty good football program that caught my eye in both the Notre dame and UCLA game even more,” noted Ruff, who is rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals.

The 6’1″, 235-pound Ruff plays a hybrid linebacker/defensive end role for Dillard, which is 3-1 so far this season. Through four games, Ruff has 8 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 1 interception. He says the UVa coaches are recruiting him as a middle linebacker.

Ruff is on track to graduate from Dillard this December and he hopes to enroll at UVa in January of 2016. Although Virginia has 25 commitments in the 2016 Class, the Hoos could add another prospect or two because at least two recruits — Ruff and running back Tre Harbison — plan to enroll in January.

In addition to Virginia, Ruff considered offers from Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State and South Carolina, among others. Stay tuned for more on UVa’s newest commitment in the coming days.
