Centreville DE Christian Brooks Commits To Virginia

Centreville (Clifton, VA) senior Christian Brooks has verbally committed to the University of Virginia, multiple outlets – including the Washington Post – report.

Brooks, a 6’5″, 235-pound defensive end prospect, becomes the 26th prospect to commit to the Cavaliers for the class of 2016.

“We’re going to play him as our strong defensive end. I think he has got the ability to maybe stay right where he is and be that type of kid at the next level, but I also think he has got the length and the feet and the rest of it to where he could go 280 and be a 3-technique and be really good. I have a feeling that’s maybe where he is going to fit best, but that’s going to be one of those deals where it depends where who likes him here and who likes him there. He’s maybe more unpolished at a couple things, which may lead him inside a little bit more. He’s not like Ken Ekanem, whose down at Virginia Tech, where he’s just a burst off the edge, but he has got more range. He could be 280 in a blink, so we’ll see where that goes,” Centreville head coach Chris Haddock said of Brooks in an EDGE article posted this past May. Haddock was describing Brooks’ role on the Wildcats’ defense in the 2015 season.

Cincinnati, Connecticut, Miami, Nevada, NC State, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest are among the other schools that offered Brooks, who is rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports.com.

Last month, UVa extended a scholarship offer to Christian’s brother, Caleb, who is a junior outside linebacker/defensive end prospect at Centreville.

Below are highlights of Christian from Centreville’s game against Annandale this season. Stay tuned for more on his commitment in the coming days.
