UVA MBB Recruiting Notes

UVA RECRUITS

The 2015/2016 season is underway for all four members of UVA men’s basketball’s class of 2016 recruits. Here is the rundown of how they have performed so far and what’s next on the schedule.

KYLE GUY, CG, Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, IN)

Guy had 24 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and one turnover as Lawrence Central rolled in its season opener against Brownsburg, 66-45. This was a home game and it took place on November 25. The Bears will defend its home court again this evening, when it hosts Carmel (1-0).

Highlights of Guy’s performance are below.

Lawrence Central has three games awaiting next week, including a home contest against Lawrence North on December 9, an away matchup with Howe Academy on December 11, and a contest against Cathedral on December 12.

JAY HUFF, F/C, Voyager Academy (Durham, N.C.)

Voyager Academy has already played six games heading into tonight’s home game versus Woods Charter. Voyager boasts a perfect record and the 6’11” Huff has scored in double-digits in every game. He is averaging 17.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 6.2 blocks per game.

Next week, Voyager Academy is home versus River Mill Academy (12/8) and Raleigh Charter (12/10), and away versus East Wake Academy (12/11)

DE’ANDRE HUNTER, G/F, Friends’ Central (Wynnewood, PA)

Hunter had 24 points and 11 rebounds in Friends’ Central’s season opening 81-78 victory over Malvern Prep. FCS hosts Hill School tomorrow and Peddie on Sunday.

Next week, Hunter and his teammates travel to Abington Friends on December 11 and Episcopal Academy on December 12.

TY JEROME, PG, Iona Prep (New Rochelle, N.Y.)

Iona Prep downed St. Francis Prep, 60-50, on November 27. Jerome had 21 points and six rebounds in the win.

The Gaels host Christ The King tonight before taking on Wings in the Big Apple Challenge on Sunday. Next week, Jerome and company host Kennedy on December 9 before traveling to Jefferson on December 11.

RECRUITING NOTES

– Touted class of 2017 point guard Trae Young announced this week that he has narrowed his list to 11. UVA made the cut for the Norman North (Norman, OK) product, who is also still considering Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Stanford, Texas, and Texas Tech.

UVA remains in the mix but is probably not one of the favorites right now.

– Vermont Academy (VT) wing Christian David, a player UVA is evaluating, received offers from Florida and Rice earlier this week. Per Vermont Academy Hoops, the 6’7″ prospect has offers from schools in the Atlantic 10, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12, and now the SEC.
