Kyle Guy, Jay Huff Advance In Playoffs

Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, IN) senior combo guard Kyle Guy poured in 28 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out five assists in a 22-point win over Arsenal Tech last night in the first-round of the Sectional 10 playoffs. Arsenal Tech featured Florida State-bound guard C.J. Walker.

The Bears (18-6) advance to meet Lawrence North on Friday, March 4, in the next round. Led by Guy’s 22 points, Lawrence Central captured a 63-62 win over Lawrence North during the regular season.

While one UVA recruit is beginning postseason play, another, 6’11” forward/center Jay Huff, has helped his team go deep in the state playoffs. Voyager Academy (Durham, N.C.) has reached the NCHSAA Eastern Regional Championship game after defeating no. 1 seed and defending 1A state champion East Carteret, 74-63. Huff scored 14 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in the win.

In previous playoff outings, the future Cavalier produced a 28-point, 19-rebound, 6-block, 3-assist performance in a second-round win over Riverside-Martin and a 12-point, 8-rebound performance in a third-round win over Weldon.

South Creek awaits the Vikings in the regional championship on Saturday, March 5. The winner advances to the 1A state championship game.
