Tony Bennett offered a scholarship to Corona del Sol (Tempe, AZ) star Alex Barcello in September of 2014, before the 6’2” point guard’s sophomore season had begun. Barcello, who attended the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville before visiting UVA following that event, remains one of Bennett’s top targets in the class of 2017.

“I’ve built a relationship with coach Bennett. He’s a great guy and a great coach,” Barcello said. “I watched a lot of their games this year. I went up there for the NBA Camp and unofficially visited after. I know how humble he is. He has a great background and I can relate to that. Overall, it’s a great coaching staff.”
