UVA Legacy Germane Crowell Commits!

The University of Virginia has its second legacy recruit of the 2017 Class. Germane Crowell Jr., whose father, Germane, starred at wide receiver for UVA in the 1990s, has announced his verbal commitment to the Cavaliers, spurning offers from Duke, Florida, Kentucky, NC State, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, among others.

“I am so grateful and thankful for the opportunity that my lord and savior Jesus Christ has provided me with. I want to give a special thanks to my parents, my brothers, my grandparents, my coaches and all of my family and friends who helped me with this process. I would also like to thank every college coach who extended the opportunity for me to play for them. I am truly honored and you all will hold a special place in my heart. With that being said I would like to announce that I will be continuing the next stage of my athletic career and education at the University of Virginia #GoHoos #HoosRising” – Crowell tweeted.

The 6’3″, 180-pound Crowell plays quarterback and defensive back for his father at Carver High School (Winston-Salem, N.C.). He indicated in an earlier EDGE article that he would like to play cornerback on the major college level.

“I like being locked in to having to shut down a receiver and taking them out of the picture,” said Crowell, who added that college coaches like “my length and speed and instinct.”

Crowell is rated a 3-star recruit by 247Sports.com. He becomes Virginia’s fifth commitment in the class of 2017, joining safety Joey Blount, defensive tackle Tommy Christ, center Tyler Fannin and quarterback Lindell Stone. Blount is another legacy recruit, as his father, Tony, played for Virginia from 1976-1979.
