Report: UVA Offers 2017 Class Combo Guard David Beatty

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello tweets that Virginia has offered David Beatty, a 6’4″, 185-pound combo guard prospect in the class of 2017.

A Philadelphia native, Beatty attends St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, New Jersey. Beatty plays for the Philly Pride — the same AAU squad UVA 2016 Class recruit DeAndre Hunter played for — on the Under Armour Grassroots circuit, and through eight games this AAU season he is averaging 13 points, four rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He is shooting 43.6-percent from the field including 39.5-percent from beyond the arc, and is making 75-percent of his free throws.

Maryland offered a scholarship to the talented guard earlier this week. Since mid-April, Beatty has collected offers from Virginia Tech, Temple, Florida State, Florida, Pittsburgh, Xavier, Indiana, Southern Cal, Maryland, and now UVA. Georgetown and Miami are among the other schools that have reportedly offered the St. Benedict’s star.
