FB Recruiting Notes: Mammoth Tackle Names Top 10

BECTON REVEALS TOP 10

Highland Springs (VA) offensive tackle Mekhi Becton announced his top 10 schools on August 1, and the list is as follows (in alphabetical order because Becton says there is no order): Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

The 6’7″, 300-pound Becton is one of the Cavaliers top remaining targets in the class of 2017. He has traveled to Charlottesville several times, helping UVA establish itself as one of the top contenders — and perhaps the favorite — for the mammoth tackle.

TEXAS DT VISITS

Lake Travis (Austin, TX) defensive tackle Sammy Ochoa headed east last week for visits to Navy and UVA. Both trips, it would appear, went well.

Ochoa, who measures in at 6’2″, 290 pounds according to his Hudl.com profile, has been offered by both aforementioned schools as well as Air Force, North Texas, and Texas State. UVA mailed an official scholarship offer yesterday, meaning the Hoos are still in the market for a defensive tackle/nose guard type.

DECISIONS

– Four-star defensive end Jordan Williams has narrowed his list to Clemson, Tennessee, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. On Saturday, August 6, the Cox (Virginia Beach, VA) standout will reveal which school he will attend. UVA is the longest shot of the four finalists in my opinion, as I expect the 6’5″, 235-pound end to head out of state or attend Virginia Tech.

Billy Ross, an offensive tackle out of West Virginia, has verbally committed to UNC. Ross received an offer from Virginia.
