High school seniors Tyler Fannin (C/G), Chris Glaser Jr. (G), and Bryson Speas (T/G) have verbally committed to the University of Virginia; however, the offensive line remains the top priority for the Hoos in class of 2017 recruiting.

Virginia is looking to add to its current offensvie line haul. This weekend, Bronco Mendenhall and company will have their chance to impress 3-star offensive tackle Ryan Nelson.

“I’m just looking forward to seeing the game atmosphere and the school grounds,” Nelson wrote in a Twitter direct message.

UVA will be the second official visit for Nelson, who took an official to Arizona last weekend.

“Arizona was awesome to see so I’m looking forward to seeing UVA,” wrote Nelson, who has never visited Virginia before.

As of now, Nelson’s plan is to schedule three more official visits to take after his senior season. Central Florida, Colorado, Fresno State, Iowa State, Navy, Northwestern, and Oregon State are among the other schools on the 6’5″, 250-pound prospect’s offer list.

While Nelson has given no indication a commitment will come soon, it will be interesting to see his reaction to UVA. Early playing time is something he is looking for, and given UVA’s lack of depth on the offensive line, the opportunity is there. Academics-wise, Nelson wants to be a history teacher and he appreciates the history of UVA.

Stay tuned to TheSabre.com for Nelson’s official visit reaction as well as a rundown of those other recruits we confirm to be in Scott Stadium for the Central Michigan game. As of this writing, we know UVA’s Woodberry Forest commitments — QB Lindell Stone, DE John Kirven, and ATH Terrell Jana — also plan to attend.

Nelson, who as mentioned is being recruited by Virginia as an offensive lineman, plays on both sides of the line this season on an undefeated Buena Park squad (4-0). His team is on a bye this week. Below are some highlights from his senior season …
