It is on the minds of every Virginia fan — Kyle Guy’s hair.

“This team has a history of good hair and I’m just trying to compete (laughs),” Guy told WINA’s Luke Neer at UVA men’s basketball’s media day. “I’m just glad you guys are recognizing it.”

Kidding aside, while Guy certainly has charisma from a personality standpoint, it is his considerable game that has Cavalier fans enthusiastic about his arrival in Charlottesville. UVA’s first McDonald’s All-American since Sylven Landesberg and Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2016, Guy is an explosive offensive player who figures to play a prominent role as head coach Tony Bennett seeks to replace 58% of the scoring lost from last year’s Elite Eight squad.

Guy, a 6’3”, 165-pound combo guard, averaged 23.5 points per game as a senior last season at Lawrence Central High School (Indianapolis, IN). His shooting ability is evident. He can come off screens and knock down jumpers as well as light it up from beyond the arc. Guy is more than just a shooter, though. He has demonstrated playmaking ability as well, able to get to the basket and score in a variety of ways. If Guy can drive consistently on the major college level, the result will be scoring opportunities for him and his Virginia teammates as well.
