UVA The Latest High-Major Offer For Power Forward J’Raan Brooks

Following a run of scholarship offers to perimeter prospects, the Virginia men’s basketball program extended a scholarship to a class of 2018 post prospect over the weekend.

JRaan Brooks, a 6’8”, 215-pound rising senior out of Garfield High School (Seattle, WA), tweeted his news this past Saturday.

Brooks helped Garfield reach the Class 3A state championship this past season. He scored 15 points in the title game, but his team fell to a Michael Porter Jr-led Nathan Hale squad by 17.

Brooks has played well for Dream Vision on the Adidas Gauntlet Series this spring, averaging 15.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game through eight games. The consensus 4-star prospect has made 52.9% of his field goals thus far despite the fact that he went 0-of-10 against Stackhouse Elite. That game aside, he is making 59.7% of his field goals.

247Sports (No. 53), Rivals (No. 60), and Scout (No. 82) rank Brooks among the Top 100 overall prospects in the class of 2018. In addition to UVA, the Garfield post also has offers from Arizona State, California, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, Washington and Washington State.
