Bobby Haskins Happy To Play Offensive Tackle At Virginia

This past February, then Fairfield College Prep (CT) senior Bobby Haskins was waiting to see if he had achieved the necessary standardized test score to gain admission into Princeton, which was eying him for a spot in its 2017 football recruiting class. Princeton’s class filled up before the test score arrived, ultimately leading the 6’7”, 240-pound prospect to make an important decision.

“That’s when I decided on taking a postgrad year,” Haskins said.

Haskins completed his career at Fairfield Prep this spring, graduating in June. Meanwhile, his recruitment flourished, and now he will attend Princeton’s (N.J.) The Hun School this fall as a University of Virginia football commitment.

Haskins estimates the Virginia’s coaches began their pursuit in late February or early March. A scholarship offer didn’t come, though, until June 3, when the promising prospect participated at Virginia’s Friday Night Lights Camp. Haskins, who played tight end and defensive end at Fairfield Prep, worked out at those positions as well as offensive line while in Charlottesville.
