Virginia Makes 4-Star Guard Jared Butler’s Final Six

Virginia is in the final six for Riverside Academy (Reserve, LA) class of 2018 combo guard Jared Butler, who revealed his finalists via Twitter.

The 6’2”, 175-pound Butler is a top 100 prospect in his class according to 247Sports Composite (4-star, No. 94), ESPN (4-star, No. 95) and Scout (4-star, No. 97). Rivals ranks him as a 3-star recruit and the no. 140 overall player in 2018.

As a junior Butler earned a spot on the 2016/2017 Times-Picayune All-Metro Boys Basketball Team. In the all-metro announcement he was described as “one of the area’s top overall athletes” who “could take over games at times, especially with a hot shooting touch.”

Butler played 16 games for the Mississippi Express on the Nike EYBL this spring and summer, averaging 13.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game.

On July 29, Butler told Scout.com’s Evan Daniels that he wanted to visit Alabama, Texas and Virginia. On August 2, the standout guard picked up an offer from Baylor.
