Virginia Football Recruiting Week In Review: Bissinger, Memorial Take The Field

Virginia-bound offensive lineman Joe Bissinger and his Memorial High School teammates didn’t get a win in their season opener last Friday night, falling to Cinco Ranch by a score of 47-10. The bigger story here, though, is that Memorial and other Houston (TX)-area schools were able to take the field in the wake of devastating flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Good to see them back on the field!

While Bissinger took the field the first time this season, a number of his future classmates didn’t play this past week. The list includes: Quarterback Wyatt Rector, wide receivers Tavares Kelly (Hurricane Irma) and Wooby Theork (bye), offensive lineman Martin Weisz (Hurricane Irma), and linebackers Case Gatlin (bye) and TC Harrison (bye), and cornerback DJ Brown (bye).

Below is a rundown of how the rest of UVA’s 2018 Class performed on the gridiron last week. Highlights are courtesy of Hudl.com
