Important Recruiting Weekend For Virginia Football & Basketball

The Virginia Cavalier football and basketball programs are expected to host prospects this weekend.

Football Visitors

Osceola (Kissimmee, FL) senior defensive tackle prospect Jordan Redmond plans to be on Grounds on an official visit. If the 6’2”, 295-pound prospect’s tweet below is any indication, Virginia may be in good shape.

On July 30, Redmond announced a top 10 of Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, NC State, Texas Tech, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.

Wahoos247 reports Virginia is also hosting Southern Cal transfer target Cary Angeline this weekend. Once we get confirmation, we’ll be sure to let you know.

The former 4-star tight end out of Downingtown East (PA) announced in September of 2017 that he was transferring from USC. The news came one month into his redshirt freshman year with the Trojans.

Basketball Visitors

Tony Bennett and the Cavalier men’s basketball program are expecting class of 2019 standouts Deuce Dean and Eric Dixon on Grounds.

Dean, a 6’4” guard out of York Prep in South Carolina, has not yet received a scholarship offer from Virginia. There is clear interest from the Cavaliers, however. St. Joseph’s and Virginia Tech are among the schools that have offered so far.

Dixon, a 6’7”, 250-pound post out of Abington (Willow Grove, PA), claimed a scholarship offer from the Hoos this past August. The 4-star also boasts offers from Georgetown, Miami, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Rutgers, and Seton Hall.

Joining these top juniors are a pair of top in-state sophomores, Henry Coleman and Mark Williams. Williams, a 6’10” post who attends Norfolk Academy (Norfolk, VA), has a scholarship offer from Virginia. Coleman, a 6’6” forward who attends Trinity Episcopal (Richmond, VA), is drawing interest from Coach Bennett and company.
