Former Virginia point guard London Perrantes made his NBA debut in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 123-114 win over the Atlanta Hawks last night (December 12).

Perrantes, a 4-year starter at UVA from 2013-2017, missed his only shot attempt and committed one foul in three minutes of play.

Since being announced as UVA head coach in March of 2009, Tony Bennett has coached six players who have gone on to play in at least one NBA game. They are Justin Anderson, Malcolm Brogdon, Joe Harris, Mike Scott, Mike Tobey, and Perrantes. Brogdon earned 2017 NBA Rookie of the Year honors with the Milwaukee Bucks. Anderson (76ers), Brogdon (Bucks), Harris (Nets), and Scott (Wizards) are all averaging double-digit minutes per game for their respective teams this season.

Perrantes, a rookie, is with Clevaland on a “two-way” contract. According to the Cleveland Cavalier official website, “Per NBA rules, teams are permitted to have two Two-Way contract players on their roster at any given time, in addition to their 15-man regular season roster. A Two-Way player for the Cavs will provide services to the team’s G League affiliate – the Canton Charge – but can spend up to 45 days with Cleveland.”
