Former Virginia basketball star Mike Scott (picture above is courtesy of Virginia’s Matt Riley) is off to Los Angeles after signing a one-year contract with the Clippers, multiple outlets have reported.

The 6’8”, 237-pound forward averaged 8.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with the Washington Wizards this past season, establishing career-high field goal and 3-point field percentages. In postseason play, Scott averaged a career-high 10.8 points per game. His previous playoff best was 9.4 points per game with the Alanta Hawks in 2013-14.

Next season will be Scott’s seventh in the NBA.

A breakout 2017-18 season paid off for former Cavalier shooting guard Joe Harris, who agreed to a 2-year deal worth $16 million to stay with the Brooklyn Nets.

Harris, who was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 33rd overall pick in the 2014 Draft, played in 78 games this past season for Brooklyn, averaging 25.3 minutes, 10.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game … all career highs. Harris made 41.9% of his 3-pointers and 49.1% of his field goals in 2017-18.

Hoos In The NBA Summer League

Devon Hall, London Perrantes, and Isaiah Wilkins are suiting up in the NBA Summer League. The action began in Utah and Sacramento on July 2, but league play will switch to Las Vegas on July 6 and run through July 17.

Hall will of course play for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team that selected him No. 53 overall in last month’s draft. The Thunder have no games in Utah and Sacramento but will play in Las Vegas. The first game is against Charlotte on Friday, July 6 at 5:30 p.m. ET. ESPNU will televise.

On July 7, the Thunder take on the Nets in a game that will be televised by the NBA TV starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Perrantes is currently playing for the Spurs in Utah. The former Cavalier point guard scored 4 points, dished out 3 assists, and pulled down 3 rebounds in a 92-76 loss to the Jazz on July 2. He had this nifty highlight below in defeat.

San Antonio rebounded with a 103-81 victory over Atlanta Tuesday evening (July 3). In 11 minutes of action, Perrantes scored 3 points (1-of-2 shooting, 1-of-1 from 3) and dished out 4 assists with only 1 turnover. The Spurs conclude the Utah leg of summer league play on Thursday, July 5 with a 7 p.m. ET matchup versus Memphis. NBA TV will televise. Perrantes’ availability is in question because of a possible concussion.

Wilkins and the rest of the Houston Rockets squad kick off summer league play versus Indiana on Friday, July 6 at 3 p.m. ET (NBA TV). The Rockets have a day off before facing Golden State on Sunday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET. UVA fans can catch the latter game on ESPN2.

Notes on other former Hoos

– Philadelphia 76ers wing Justin Anderson had surgery recently to help with shin splints in his left leg. Leg and ankle injuries forced the former Hoo to miss 31 games last season … 23 of the 31 missed games were because of the shin splint issue.

– BC Khimki announced last month that it had resigned UVA product Anthony Gill to a 2-year contract. Gill, a forward, impressed the Moscow-based club by averaging 11.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 32 games in Euroleague play this past season.

– Euro Hoops reports that Valencia Basket, which competes in the Euroleague as well, has offered a contract to former Virginia center Mike Tobey. Tobey currently plays for Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias, the club he averaged 13.5 points and 7 rebounds per game for in the Basketball Champions League and 11 points and over six rebounds per game for in the Spanish League this past year.
