The third time probably doesn’t feel too charming to London Perrantes right now. That’s because for the third time in his Virginia career, Perrantes broke his nose during Saturday’s practice. He sported tape around his still bruised nose during Monday’s Media day for the UVA men’s basketball team.

Of course, Perrantes has been there before and that’s what the Hoos are counting on this season. Perrantes enters the 2016-17 campaign as the lone scholarship senior on the roster, though the Cavaliers do feature three redshirt juniors in their fourth season of college basketball. Perrantes’ experience and proven playmaking skills should prove vital to UVA’s potential.

Perrantes entered Virginia’s lineup as a starter during the rocky start to the 2013-14 season as a true freshman and has remained there since. In those three years, UVA posted 89 wins. Last season, he led the ACC in 3-point shooting percentage at 48.8% and averaged 11.1 points with 4.4 assists. He’s seventh all-time at Virginia with 441 career assists to date.

All of which is a long way to say a simple thing: Perrantes helps set the tone and make UVA’s high efficiency style work.
