Yes, the visitors pulled close here and there. No, the hosts never fully turned it into a laugher. By and large, however, this was a solid ACC home victory. Still, it felt like one of those games that could leave fans wanting more. GT came in at 3-3 in league play with a win over North Carolina, but didn’t have the feel of a big time opponent like so many ACC foes these days. So when things didn’t snowball into a full-fledged Cavalanche, it had a little bit of a blase tint to it in the second half.
What does that say about the program nowadays, though? 89 wins in 3 seasons will do that to you!
A double-digit ACC home win gets greeted with ‘ho hum business as usual love.’ Don’t get me wrong – Hoo fans know that every game is a test and that the margin between winning and losing is razor thin. I don’t get the sense that UVA fans have gone down that dark road of ‘this is easy expectations’ when it comes to the sustained success under Tony Bennett. In fact, it seems to be the opposite.
